Biografía

Licenciada en Sociología por la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay (FCS-UDELAR). Máster en Sociología por el Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) y doctoranda en esta misma Universidad con una beca de la Fundación para la Ciencia y la Tecnología de Portugal (FCT). Trabaja como investigadora en el Centro de Investigación y Estudios de Sociología de Lisboa (CIES). Ha participado y colaborado en diversos proyectos nacionales e regionales sobre los temas de migraciones, jóvenes, salud y América Latina. Sobre los cuáles también ha publicado artículos en Portugal y en el exterior. Es integrante del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores SNI del Uruguay desde el año 2010.

Es Doctora y Master en Sociologia (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign); Master en Políticas Pública (University of Texas at Austin); Licenciada en Administración Pública y Ciencias Políticas (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina). Es Professora Associada en la Universidade do Minho, Portugal. Coordena el proyecto "Multilevel Governance of Cultural Diversity in Comparative Perspective: European Union - Latin America", FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES - Marie Curie Action "International Research Staff Exchange Scheme", financiado por la Comisión Europea, 2014-2018; así como el proyecto "Understanding the Practice and Developing the Concept of Welfare-Bricolage (UPWEB), financiado por la Red NORFACE-The Future of Welfare States, 2015-2017.

Biografía

Licenciada y Doctora en Sociología por la Universidad de Alicante, España. Ha sido becaria en el Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) de España, becaria doctoral en el Departamento de Sociología II de la Universidad de Alicante (UA) e investigadora en el Instituto Interuniversitario de Desarrollo Social y Paz (IUDESP) de la UA. Ha sido investigadora postdoctoral en el Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia del Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (CIES-IUL), Portugal, entre 2010 y 2013. Ha participado en diversos proyectos de I+D de carácter internacional, nacional y autonómico sobre temáticas ligadas a las migraciones. Actualmente es profesora ayudante doctora en el Departamento de Sociología y Antropología Social de la Universidad de Valencia e investigadora asociada al CIES-IUL.

Biografía

Es doctor en Antropología Social por la (Universidad de Sevilla), así como Licenciado en Antropología Social y Cultural y Licenciado en Periodismo. Es investigador postdoctoral en el Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (CIES-IUL). Actualmente se encuentra desarrollando el proyecto de investigación "The role of immigrant associations in the integration process. Comparing POS and political cultures in the cities of Seville and Lisbon", financiado por la Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, Portugal). Paralelamente participa del proyecto "Multilevel governance of cultural diversity in a comparative perspective: EU-Latin America (GOVDIV)", financiado por la Comisión Europea.

Biografía

 

Mara Clemente is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, University Institute of Lisbon (CIES-IUL). Her current project is on Trafficking of Women for Sexual Exploitation in both Portugal and Brazil. Her current project is on Trafficking of Women for Sexual Exploitation in Portugal - a qualitative study of trafficked women, trafficking experiences and measures of assistance.
Mara obtained her PhD in Theory and Social Research from the Sapienza University of Rome in 2010. Her PhD research on Minors Prostitution and Sex Tourism in the Dominican Republic included an extensive fieldwork in the country. This field experience, eventually published by Nuova Cultura Publishing House, is now being used as a university reference text on the subject.
After her PhD Mara participated as a researcher in projects focusing on subjects as Refugees, Representation of Migration in films, History of Women, etc.She has collaborated with the Master program “Theory and Qualitative Analysis” at Sapienza University of Rome and has been guest lecturer at the Master’s course work “Immigrants and Refugees” and "Theory and Qualitative Analysis” at the same university.
She is now collaborating with the Emigration Observatory (OEm) of Lisbon.
Mara has publications on issues such as Migration, Sex Work, Trafficking in Human Beings and Sex Tourism with particular emphasis on the impact of policies on migration and gender. 
Her research is led by a concern to understand the experiences of marginalized groups and she has developed an expertise in researching sensitive subjects through participant observation and research-action.

Biografía

Nuno Oliveira holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from ISCTE Lisbon University Institute, a graduate degree in Data Analysis also by ISCTE-IUL,  a Master in Historical and Economic Sociology in the Universidade Nova de Lisboa - FCSH, with a thesis on political languages on the integration of immigrants, and major in Sociology from UAL.  He has worked at the intersection of integration policies, political discourse about immigrants and institutional repertoires for the accommodation of cultural diversity, either at national level and at a comparative level with a specific focus on Brazil; research that he have of lately directed towards urban sociology and globalization.
